Top 4 reasons YOU should be at Taste and Test

On 08, Sep 2014 | No Comments | In Uncategorized | By Sage Wisdom

You’re welcome Canberra. Just when you thought all you had to look forward to this Spring were flowers and lambs, we’ve gone and done it again.

It’s Taste and Test time!! A month where you get to be part of the menu design process every time you dine. Rate our dishes, tell us what you think, and see which ones make it on to the Spring Menu.

We have had a flood of bookings already – over 150 since we announced last week – so it’s great to see Canberra (and beyond) as jazzed about it as we are. There are also plenty left for those of you who have yet to nail one down, but don’t wait too long – we always sell out. It’s also great to see so many booking on multiple nights to see how the food evolves with each week’s new menu.

With that in mind, it follows that the World is now cleft in twain; divided into those who have a booking, and those who just haven’t booked yet.

Which ever camp you find yourself in, it seems appropriate to give you a little fix to get you across the line. So, here are the top 4 things to look forward to during Taste and Test…

#4 – It’s a freakin’ steal!!

So cheap you can be as rich as Jorge

Five courses for $75! That’s all it costs you. And they’re not just any five courses either; you get five courses of cutting edge cuisine prepared by our amazing chefs with pedigrees that include Tetsuya’s, Rockpool, Ginger Boy, MG Garage, and Sokyo.

Throw in a dose of intra-kitchen competition for the highest rated dishes, and you have the makings of some top shelf food. And it’s still only $75. What are we thinking?!

#3 – Power to the people!!

You’ve seen cooking shows on TV. Some chefs (you know who you are) don’t seem to pause long enough between expletives to listen to what their customers have to say. We are quite the opposite – our chefs would never dream of swearing, and for the duration of Taste and Test, we specifically want to know what you think. We collect the tablecloth score cards at the end of every night and tally the results. We’re crowd-sourcing our next menu. If the public wants it, it stays. No dodgy preference deals here!

#2 – It’s not just about the food!

Blue Lagoon

OK, it’s a LOT about the food, but we’re not only testing that. The Taste and Test series also showcases as much interesting wine, beer and soft drinks as we can find and we want to know what you think of them too. In fact, if you don’t want to drink alcohol we will make you tailored soft drink options to match your food. Just cos we love ya!

#1 – The only surprises are good ones

Remember when I said our chefs are awesome? Well they are, and I did, and they are also going to try and put the coolest plate of food in front of you that they can at all times. But, if you’re allergic to a certain type of coolness – or you like your cool to be meat free, for example – we’re going to create you something that ticks all the boxes. All you need to do is tell us. We can’t exactly get your opinion on things that you don’t eat, right?

It’s not polite to blow one’s own trumpet too loud, but this really is a great way for the Canberra community to experience our really exciting new direction before it happens, and direct it. Where else do you have that opportunity?

So…have you booked yet?
