Recipe: Mull on this…

On 11, Aug 2014 | No Comments | In Uncategorized | By Sage Wisdom

So you’ve just been up to the snow, running by the lake, or weeding the garden. Your weekend has been pretty great, but you worry about the longevity of your digits in the cold.

Well fear not – it’s mulled wine time.

Sage has the answer to your winter chill and it comes in a piping hot mug to wrap your blanched hands around. Let us dangle the decadent aromas of fruit and spice under the numbed tip of your nose, and envelop those aching, wind-swept ears as you almost begin to hear the warming swell of polka music. The polka is optional, but feeling better about life is not.

Read on for Sage and Mint’s special recipe. Make it yourself or come and join us for one. Either way, don’t say we don’t look after you.

Ingredients: Zest

1 btl red wine (No pinot noir or anything else too soft)

125g brown sugar

1 cinnamon stick

3 cloves

3 star anise

5 peppercorns

Zest of one lemon in thick ribbons (not grated)

Combine wine and sugar, and bring gently to the boil with the cinnamon.

Lower the heat.

Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 mins.

Serve wearing a thick woolen turtleneck, affect a European accent, and dream of ski lodges.

Let us know how it goes here and on our facebook and twitter. Bonus points for pictures
